Our cottage home is in a small scenic bay - with moored boats and yachts and we have two bedrooms that are separate from the cottage.
We are situated on the beautiful and scenic Queen Charlotte Drive - 11km from the seaside town of Picton and 30km from Havelock.
Queen Charlotte Drive is the scenic drive to Nelson if you are coming off the Cook Strait Ferry. It is a twisting and winding road but the scenic views are well worth it. At about 11km, there is a sign at the road to indicate where we are, but look out for the really long jetty (pier) in the bay. This 180-metre long jetty is right out front of our cottage and is ideal to fish from or to do some "jetty jumping".
Take it slowly as you approach Ngakuta Bay as we are located in the small cove known as Little Ngakuta Bay. If you are coming from Picton, this is approx 300 metres before the bigger part of Ngakuta Bay.
The aptly named and themed "Boatshed" is a Queen Room with Sea View. The sleeping area has a queen bed and a desk with chair. There is a sitting area with wonderful views of the nearby beach. This room comes with an ensuite bathroom with shower.
RATE: NZ$245 per night for up to 2 guests.
Full breakfast is included.
The themed "Pacific" room, in a bush setting, is a Queen Room with Private External Bathroom. It has a queen bed and its own private/dedicated bathroom with shower just across a small decked area.
RATE: NZ$205 per night for 2 people .
Full breakfast is included.
To book either the Boatshed or the Pacific room, please click the button below. You will be taken to the Availability section of our Booking.com profile.
Once there, click on one of the listings under Room Type and a popup window will open with more details about each room. Enter your dates and hit the search button.
NOTE: as shown above, do NOT use the Check Availability button or the Show Prices button.
If you enjoy exploring the outdoors - biking, cycling, tramping, walking - then Waterfront Bed and Breakfast is the place to stay. Two good nature tracks are right on our doorstep.
The first is the 42km Link Pathway - a new scenic and historic track from Picton to Havelock. Walk or bike part of this beautiful off-road track from Ngakuta Bay to Momorangi with stunning views of the Grove Arm and Queen Charlotte Sound.
The second is the well-known 72km Queen Charlotte Track – this track can actually be seen from the cottage. Walk or bike from Anakiwa through the waterside bush to one of the many bays.
In addition to local Ngakuta Bay and Picton activities, Marlborough is host to an array of other attractions and activities to suit the diverse interests of our guests. We can advise on all these tours and activities.
There is a circular route (which we are on) that takes you out through Picton and Rapaura to the Marlborough wine area along to Havelock and the scenic Queen Charlotte Drive back to the cottage.
Nelson City is just a 1½ hour drive away along the scenic route and it is a pleasant day out with Waterfront Bed and Breakfast as your base to come back to in the evening.
Waterfront Bed and Breakfast is also handy to all the InterIsland Cook Strait Ferries. We are approximately 15 minutes to the terminals.

My name is Vicki Bendell, I have four children. Sophia is 20yrs and working in a pharmacy doing her technician course. Lucy is 18 years and is studying Journalism at Broadcasting school in Christchurch. Hunter is 16 years and Amber 13 years, and we look forward to welcoming you into our home. As Kiwi Hosts, we are knowledgeable in local attractions and of the bush and sea life around.
I am a hairdresser, while I am also a qualified accountant (but still cutting the overheads!). My late husband David has written textbooks for the NZ and Australian hairdressing industries and has had a long association with education. We all enjoy boating and getting out on the water.
Our girls are world class international dance champions in salsa and hip hop while our boys love hunting, fishing and mountain bike riding.
We have two small dogs:- Chico is maltese x Appa Lapso and Charlie is a Pomeranian x chihuahua
The garden is native and has many outside decking areas. In the evening we sometimes light the outside torches or toast marshmallows on the outdoor open fire or stroll up the jetty to see if the water is fluorescing or just to gaze at the stars.
We operate a typical New Zealand family environment with an open home approach. You are welcome in our cottage to watch sky TV or use wireless Internet in the small outside guest chalet.
In newspapers, tourist have mentioned Queen Charlotte Drive as the most desirable place to live.
